Hi Bobbie;I love when you post things on the Today show.I really liked the hair removal products today.I myself have struggled for about 2 yrs now with blonde peachfuzz on my face.I hate it,and would love to be educated on what to do about it.My mom says leave it alone it will come back darker and thicker, but it really bothers me.I guess I need to know what would you recommend me do?If its blonde is it a wise tale that it comes back full force?I need some woman to woman advice on this.I’m 38 yrs old,and never noticed it before these last 2 yrs.Its really messed with my self-esteem.Its on my upper lip, chin and side of face.So if this something you could help me with that would be great. Is mom right about the side affect of removing or is she stuck in time?Thank you……Abby
Hi Abby – It’s a myth that hair grows back thicker after shaving. The hairs simply appear thicker since they’ve been cut off at the widest part of the shaft and accordingly grow back in with the thickest part coming through. When you remove the hair completely, however, new hair with thinner ends will grow through. Waxing and laser hair removal are 2 options that are known to reduce growth over time and there are several products on the market aimed at minimizing growth (the NoNo, the Tria system and Vaniqua are a few). Some products are even designed specifically for the face. Check with your dermatologist or even head down to the beauty store or a Sephora store. They can fill you in on what’s best for you.
