Backstage Beauty: Thakoon Spring 2012

October 12, 2011

Last week I posted a bunch of backstage beauty trends, from wet hair to metallic eyebrows…and this week I wanted to share an unusual technique that was used behind the scenes at the Thakoon runway presentation.  Hairstylist Odile Gilbert applied a mixture of colored clay powder and water to models’ locks, a nod to a traditional Indian festival and a way to add a touch of whimsy to the show (AND, perhaps the perfect way  to finish off a Halloween costume?  For bright, clear color you might try using baby powder or cornstarch to create a white base on which to apply color.)

Kevin Murphy makes some called color bugs.  also, bold eyeshadows work really well.
