Lil Fashion History: Louis Vuitton

December 27, 2011

Ever wonder why a Louis Vuitton bag looks the way it does?  Turns out Mr. Vuitton got his start creating trunks and luxe luggage in the late 19th century, all of which were lined with his signature monogram print.  When trains, planes and cars began to allow people to take shorter trips and day excursions, the Vuitton family began building smaller bags, designed to go inside their larger trunks and travel pieces.  Over time, the purses became best-sellers– and today, you’re still hard-pressed to spot an A-Lister in the airport without the iconic print by their side.
